All day, all night, Calculus. Hey, I’m not the one who’s supposed to be going to MIT! What’s wrong with this picture?
Listening to Breakfast with the Smiths and thoroughly enjoying myself despite mounting attack on a massive pile of homework due tomorrow.
Sample sonnet: Estha
Now I am two people, two am I now—
Look in the mirror, you see: mirror the look in
You’ll see the twin mind, one mind, hers mine, how?
She or he sees, the dizygotic twin.
Sole Ammu saw us fake this palindrome:
Eshappen and Rakel can’t be reversed;
Easily matched but not confirmed a clone,
Twin thinking sister’s thoughts for her twin cursed.
And lest you think it makes no sense to try

I find myself playing Steve Aoki’s uncut “Pillowface Chronicles” and writing sonnets about incestuous twins in postmodernist Indian novels.
Got up at 6:15 and wrote 3 sonnets for my English project. I am starving, and leaving for the gym quite soon.
Baccalaurimania
Ella got into DADA at USC, their super-prestigious animation program.
Larkino is in at UCLA and Mt. Holyoke (with $20,000 a year).
Alex is in at Wheaton (MA) as of this afternoon, plus St. Anselm, St. Michael, and Stonehill.
Claire is in at Scripps (half-tuition), Mt. Holyoke ($20,000 a year), WUStL, UCLA, and a handful of other really good schools.
Kate is in at Sarah Lawrence and Mt....
I just finished my take-home Physics exam, based on Tuesday’s class trip to Six Flags Magic Mountain. It’s the first reason I feel intense relief right now.
Secondly, my teacher approved my proposal for the major AP English creative project (which is due Monday!). I will write a sonnet from the perspective of each and every semi-to-really major character in The God of Small Things at...
A Bar Called "Dow Jones"
lenachen:
My best friend Jason is on spring break in Spain and going to a bar called “Dow Jones”, where the price of drinks fluctuates with the demand.

BBC NEWS | US boy wins smelly trainer glory →
A few notes: “Trainer” means “sneaker” in American. Also, one of the judges was a Brown “professor of smell.”
Nothing wrong with talking with Eddo past 1 in the morning. 6 Flags with other physics students today! Gotta love that life.

The website I made today (in two sittings punctuated by dinner) from scratch, based on my Religion class report from last semester. This semester, on next Wednesday, I show this to my class as part of a 20-minute presentation.
It’s a little weird to be sent to bed but then to wait for the sheets to come out of the dryer.
I don’t think I’m ever going to get a job this summer.

Wow, IvyGate actually linked to something that matters!
Is a Food Revolution Now in Season? - NYTimes.com →
Woo! It was an article like this in the NYT Magazine (actually referenced in the link) by Michael Pollan that got me reading all those lovely food policy books. Why must so many things be so interesting?!
Eddo and I were on the phone until 4 a.m. Lost sleep is totally worth it.
She admitted she had heard “a couple of explosions”, and then she...

Being grounded on a restless weekend is by far the best thing that has ever happened to my closet and my blog and my fitness. I have been given permission to work out tomorrow, and thank goodness, because I need to get out of this house.
Somewhat unluckily, the C in YMCA prevents the gym from opening before noon. I think I’m going to be the first one in the doors at 12. After reading Lena...
I hope I’m not too grounded to work out tomorrow. Craving some cardio. What’s wrong with me?!!

LARKINO GOT INTO MT. HOLYOKE WITH $20,000 A YEAR!
At 8 this morning, I drove to the Y and met my (cute) semi-personal trainer, Casey. Now not only am I logged into their computer system, I know how to use every machine in the circuit room. We did one set of everything (as opposed to 2), and it took a little more than 40 minutes to complete. I am just not that strong.
However, I feel really tough and hardcore. My muscles are all a little sore,...

Why is Lena Chen so awesome?!
The word is dancetarded. Larkino (after being admitted to UCLA) and I went to the Y for a belly dance class. Neither of us have any dance experience, save pre-elementary-school ballet.
Needless to say, I was really really bad at choreography. When we did individual moves, I understood. When we put them together, I ended up with my arms in the wrong direction and completely off-beat.
Yikes....
Larkino got into UCLA and U. Puget Sound (with $$$)!
Today she also asked a boy to prom. Still waiting to see the response…
So far:
Ariel got into UCLA, a far reach and her biggest dream.
Kilizzle and Ella got into Chapman Film, among the most prestigious film schools anywhere.
Alex got into… everywhere she applied: St. Michael, St. Anselm, and a host of others.
N.D. got into Stanford, NYU, Fordham, etc.
Jerbear was rejected at UCSD, to the bewilderment of many.
Jill got into USNA, USC (NROTC), and other acronymed...
Body… so… sore… yet… mind… so… alive.
I’m likely the only student at my school excited that we now have JSTOR access.

Pi Day!
Today is Pi Day, as opposed to Pi Day (observed), which was Thursday. Today is the day MIT releases their decisions. Gotta love them beavers!
No sleep til Brooklyn. Or Ilyria.
There was no school today!!
Twelfth Night is going swimmingly. This has been one of the most enjoyable FSHA plays I’ve ever worked on. Nevertheless, it’s draining.
Tomorrow is spin class, then Maryellen comes over and we scramble up some homework before getting to the matinee at 2, and staying through the evening show. Hopefully I can go to the cast party. My carpool, generally...
I sent in my first job application, to the Hollywood Bowl. I probably have a good shot at getting an offer from them:
At least 2 FSHA alums have worked there.
My dad knows someone there.
I’m really experienced in theater operation.
Crossing my fingers!
Renee
I love the play M. Butterfly. Today I read Renee (not to be confused with Rene), who discusses “weenies”.
I’m getting tired of Twelfth Night, which opens tomorrow night. Eddo will be there, but otherwise I’m in the mood for… not being involved in a play. There are way too many divas in this one production, who have saved their worse sides for this last night of...
I’m listening to the DJ mix I was so very into this summer, and it makes me feel jittery, uneasy, and adventurous, like I did this summer.
I feel like I’m getting away with something while hearing this. The thrill of winning the chase!
