After a month of frequent use, I have finally determined the setting on the gym’s cross-trainers that gives a good workout: interval.
It worked my glutes so much better than the “gluteal” setting that my tush is sore! Trial and error, I guess.
Jocks are dumb wherever you go.

I don’t care if it’s a stereotype, they all play into it.
I eat breakfast with a bunch of really smart jocks every morning.
Thanks to a generous contribution to the Bring Pop Culture into Holly’s Life Fund, I have purchased the extended version of Kid Cudi’s Man on the Moon and wow, is it fantastic. Even my country-loving hallmate likes “Soundtrack 2 My Life”.
In other news: I’m trying not to laugh at my roommate’s disorganization.
Why is college so boring?
Tonight I experienced my first Brown fraternity party. It was like the MIT fraternity party, but in a different state. The frat: AEPi; the theme: Body Chemistry; the gimmick: test-tube shooters.
I left after less than an hour because I was bored. Yes, the music was OK, and there were a good number of people dancing. But dancing by myself surrounded by my friends who were a little tipsy and not...

I have free time before my next class, so I’m sitting on one of my favorite benches.
Today is humid with a cool breeze, but lately temperatures have been sticking to the mid-70s by day, mid-50s by night. It’s just pleasant.
It’s just after 11 in the morning, so the campus is silent: no one is out getting breakfast, no one is walking to class because they already started, no one...
Hello from Cambridge, where my parents just told me (over the phone) they don’t want me to be every weekend.
You know what? I like it here.
I went to see 9 with Eddo and his MITastic buddies. It bothers me that I get along with people here so much more than I do with people at Brown.
Now Eddo is getting math help from an upperclassman in his dorm, and I’m in the lounge, working on...
This afternoon I passed a campus tour going into Keeney Quadrangle, the freshman tenement where I live. It didn’t bring back memories; my perception of Brown now is so different than it was then.
After they passed, I stood on the corner of Brown & Benevolent streets, asking people to sign my notebook. I needed 150 signatures to join student council. I got 100 signatures in less than an...

The wild ride
I forgot to bring Eddo his present. (Don’t tell him what it is! [“Somebody from Brown loves me” teddy bear.])
But I did go to Boston, and ended up in a limo full of fratnerity brothers, and at Mike’s Pastry, and at Faneuil Hall, and with Maryellen. That was my Friday and Saturday.
Must the MBTA commuter rail smell like vomit though? Is it necessary?
Also, why is the...

I‘ve never watched Titanic. I’ve never read Pride and Prejudice. I’ve never been drunk. I’ve never played Laser Tag. I’ve never skipped in a public place. I’ve never sung at an inappropriate moment. I’ve never cried over a movie. I’ve never cried reading a book. I’ve never cried while watching a TV show. I’ve never owned a music player....
So my email address has been a long time in the works, and it still does not work. Brown is migrating its mail hosting to Gmail, but my password won’t log me in to Gmail with holly_hunt@brown.edu.
I just want to forward the stuff to my current master Gmail account! GRR!!
Also: I went to the TAPS [Theatre Arts & Performance Studies] Orientation at 9, where I met people who enjoy...
I'm about ready to declare my major already. And...

But, I have no career path!
Ah, the life of a Brown freshman.
Gross.
After a pretty good day yesterday, I went to the freshman dance. I went from group to group for an hour and a half until it was midnight, when I was in a circle of kids. A blonde guy in a white t-shirt asked me to dance during a Sean Kingston song. I said yes.
Even during, I felt like a creep.
He tried to lace his fingers between mine. It was really sweet, a nice move, totally smooth. Except I...
Today is a little easier than yesterday. I just got back from doing yoga with 100 other people (including Emma W.) in direct sun on Lincoln field. I hung out with unit-mates earlier. The seminar earlier was refreshing, because it was… academic. God forbid.
Last night, Eddo came down for but a few hours due to a serious misapprehension of Sunday MBTA Purple Line schedules. We ate at Nice...

i don’t share space well i dont think
im gonna go for a single next year
I can’t wait until it’s miserably cold out, so the a-holes who stood outside of my room last night on Keeney Quad yelling and getting drunk (until two a.m.) will be too freaking freezing to do so outside.
So... college
It’s about 12:30 in the morning, edging towards 1 a.m.
This morning we got up early, ate breakfast, esured that our Toyota Yaris, yes, seriously, the smallest car in the Toyota lineup, was filled with as much stuff as possible, and drove to College Hill. We unpacked, and my roommate, who has been on campus for a number of days, was nowhere to be found.
Later we found her and her mom, and I...

i have no social skills and i’m bad at making friends
Once I get on campus, I’m not just going to “friend you”. Imma befriend you. And then you will realize that there are people with worse social skills. (Me.)

Now I remember why I left Flickr:
Because I am the most indecisive person you’ve ever blogrolled, I decided to log back in to Flickr after months of using Picasa.
Picasa has a 1GB storage limit before I have to shell out, and truth be told, I’m almost at the limit. Especially one I upload the oncoming “Moving In Pix OMG” and “Eddo’s Dorm and MIT...
Today I tried to contact the woman who babysat me through elementary school. Her name is Julia, and she went to boarding schools in the Alps. She’s married to some Hollywood guy, and lived in Pasadena, always complaining about the air quality. She said a long time ago that she wanted to move.
With 22 hours left in Los Angeles, I tried to call her, to tell her how things have turned out....
I like my family
Aunt Mary & family sent me a $60 Sephora gift card in the mail.
Within 15 minutes of opening the envelope, I have purchased a kabuki brush, 2 foundation sponges and sponge cleanser, and a dual pencil sharpener.
How’s that for practical use of well-timed generosity?
Thanks, Aunt Mary!

It was 7:30, and my parents were about the house, making coffee and eating breakfast. In my dim, barely sunny room, I lay quietly on my bed.
And then my dad puts Ravel’s “Bolero” onto the speaker system. Loud.
I woke up at exactly 7:30 on my second-to-last day of summer vacation to “Bolero”.
Gad.
Where is my dear Gmail?
I need that thing.
I have stopped cheating by ending Twitter imports...
I think Mt. Wilson just burst into flames. I will Picasa the pictures in the morning. This fire is unbelievable. #Stationfire
Tonight: laundry. Tomorrow: organizing clothes. Wednesday: mass chaos [packing]. Thursday: nakedness as result of having packed all clothes.
Twitter addict encounter madness!
After I got home from work last Friday, I tweeted this:
I just checked my replies, and saw this:
Now, tell me: what are the odds of one dude at one concert finding my Liza tweet? What are the odds? Rediculous.
HEGEMONY!
(via the405)
Hell yes. I love saying HEGEMONY. I’m totally interested in the hegemony of the use of the word hegemony. (And in cheap articles written by the dudes at GQ.)
