(Holly, a student from L.A.) Welcome the blog I brought with me to college. holly_hunt@brown.edu

Heeeeeere’s December!

I sit here, next to my two roomies, nails freshly painted red in anticipation for my date tomorrow night. (Eddo decided that it was damn time to take me on a date! I don’t even remember the last time.)

Updates!

  • The Pomodoro Technique! Thanks to the cunning Michael McGee, I was just informed of this productivity mechanism: (1) you set a timer for 25 minutes, (2) crank out work and do nothing else until the timer rings, and (3) take a 5-minute break. Using this method, I got a lot of work done today.
  • I am working through The Second Shift by Arlie Russell Hochschild, a Berkeley sociologist. It’s a study of how two-job couples negotiate the splitting of household duties, and the effects of those arrangements on marriage and child.
  • Finals begin for me on Tuesday. Eeek.

Time to read. I really like reading; it’s sad how much I had forgotten that.
