(Holly, a student from L.A.) Welcome the blog I brought with me to college. holly_hunt@brown.edu

I painted my nails

… cuz I was bored. And too productive. I’m about to start homework that I scheduled to do tomorrow. In case this makes no sense to you, when I get syllabi, I immediately plug in assignments so that I know exactly what I have to do, when. All this is possible due to Google Calendar, which, besides Gmail, is the best tool they’ve ever made.

Now I have Valentine’s-hot-pink finger- and toenails, and a dry 10-page PDF about employment-based health insurance to read. I already read some 50 pages of really terrible history of the blues. The last two portions of this assignment were great, actually: Langston Hughes and James Baldwin.

I feel a little lonely, as Eddo’s 5-class learn-a-thon has completely devoured his life. I don’t have my constant talk-buddy. I have my Daft Punk, my Talib, my Cascada, instead.

This week is starting to feel completely crazy. I wish I could march down the hall to another room where I used to go, half because I needed interaction, half to break the steamy tension between my two friends who were not yet dating. But now they’re dating, and all anyone can feel around them is in the way.

Also, I don’t know what to do when I leave college. Not quite pertinent, but worrisome still. I have the Princeton Review’s Best 172 Law Schools looking at me, and I can’t fathom why I once wanted to do law. Mind you, this was 3 months ago.

Boring technical updates: after, oh, 2 months of work on the student government’s WordPress tester, I have decided I want to use DRUPAL, not silly old WordPress! Wow! What a phenomenal waste of my winter break.

Moreover, I was turned down for a light-commitment job. And I researched and wrote a 1,600 word research paper on sugar beets in a total working time of 10 hours. And I kind of need another vacation.
